Make the tapestry pansy brooch for Mother’s Day

sunday-morning

Sunday 26th April 2009

It’s Sunday morning.  Sports for the days is over and dirty shorts, socks and football boots lie on the laundry floor waiting to be washed.

The pansy brooch is now done.

My inspiration for this design came from a photo I took of a pansy in a pot in my garden.

Here is the end result !!

To Make Brooch

Once you have finished stitching the brooch you need to cut a square piece of fabric (in my case yellow and white check cotton) and sew it to the front of the pansy by hand.  I chose to sew mine by machine. Once it is stitched on three sides turn the brooch inside out so the pansy design is on the front and the back is the cotton fabric.  Sew by hand along the side which was not sewn.  When turning the brooch inside out take great care with the corners.  It is also a good idea to cut the corners of the design but not too close to the edge !

Once you have finished sewing the back of the fabric to the pansy you can add a safety pin by simply sewing it on.  Nothing too fancy as no one will see it once the brooch is attached to your jacket.

So there you have it !  You can make this brooch very quickly and it can be a really nice mother’s day gift to give your mother on Mother’s day !  Then you can make one for yourself !

It’s been a busy Sunday spent with family and friends.  The thought for tonight as I get ready for sleep and work tomorrow morning is about friendship.

It is good to remember that;

To find a Friend is to find a Treasure”
