Tokyo Flower Shop
15 June 2009
I have spent the last week or so reflecting on my recent Tokyo trip. Seems that I may have to go again towards the end of this month. We’ll see.
In the meantime here are some photos of Tokyo.
The above photo was taken in the flower shop where I had taken the other flower shots included in my previous Tokyo blog. I loved the colour arrangement that the florist had chosen. She had cleverly arranged the pinks in various tones together in one section. Then she had worked the other colours in the next section as can be seen below. A visual explosion of colours. I stood in that flower shop taking it all in for quite a few minutes.

Tokyo Flower Shop
On the Saturday morning I had managed to take a few shots of one of the main shopping strips in Tokyo. I took the underground and ended up at the Oriental Bazaar “The Biggest Art & Antique Store in Tokyo”. It is located T # 9-13, Jingumae 5- Chome, Shibuya-Ku, Tokyo. I will share with you the various items I bought in that shop in tomorrow’s blog. As I made my way back to the hotel I walked through some side streets. There I found some interesting sights and activities.

It was raining that Saturday morning but it was very quite warms and humid. It was also a day for weddings in Tokyo. As I walked the side streets to the main shopping strip I came across a small restaurant that was hosting a wedding. The front of the restaurant was bathed in climbing flowers of various shades of pale orange and cream. I was instantly drawn to investigate further.

The side entrance to this restaurant was to a separate reception area. To enter the reception area you had to go through an small arched doorway. On this particular Saturday the arch was covered in fresh pale orange flowers. It was a stunning explosion of different shades of pale oranges, yellows and pale pinks. Yes the flowers are real ! I touched them to make sure.

Tokyo Wedding Reception
As I headed back to the hotel I walked past a few shops with beautiful flower displays outside their front doors. The Japanese are very stylish and are in my view among the world’s best at presentation and displays. The first photo is outside a handbag shop and the second photo shows a flower arrangement outside a cosmetic shop. Both very appealing and beautiful flower displays and also incredibly clean. Tokyo is the cleanest international city I have visited.

Outside the handbag shop
Outside the cosmetic shop. The flowers on the base of this arrangement are large, soft, white hydrangeas they almost look like snow. Layered on top is ivy and various other ferns and climbing plants. Again just spectacular. I leave you to enjoy your day and in the meantime Happy Threading !
