We are in the middle of winter here.  It’s wet and cold and as I type this post it is still dark outside.  I took the above shot of winter leaves while away for this weekend at a lovely little cottage miles away from anywhere.

The woman who owned the cottage was very creative and made the beautiful mosaics which I will show you shortly.  It was nice to get away for a few days.  Now back to the real world !

She had two dogs which feature in the mosaics below.  I love mosaics and will try to design a chart which feature mosaics at some stage in the near future.  She also had a concrete handpainted magpie to protect her irises which still needed to grow for a few months.  In the entire time we were at the cottage not one live bird landed in this patch of new plants.  Great idea for my garden !
