Sunday 24 October 2009

Happy Sunday !  I hope you are having a wonderful weekend.  We are going for a BBQ lunch today so there won’t much time for stitching.

I bought some roses yesterday and took a few photos.  Roses are my favorite flower.  They are just so beautiful.

Sunday is a day of rest but I thought I would quickly show you how to transform the Tea Time cross stitch chart into a card.  I have finished my card and it will be sent off tomorrow.  In the meantime this is how it looks when finished.

So here is how to make the card.

First choose a piece of cardboard in the color of your choice.  I chose lime green but you can chose any color you like.

Next fold the card in half and then fold into quarters

Next cut the paper at the half section so that when you cut the paper you have two sections which fold over.  Then open the card and measure one page into quarters so that it is easy to measure the section you will need to cut out to show off your cross stitch.

Then measure a section which is 3 centimeters (approx 1 inch) on all sides of the cross stitch design.  Cut the design out from the fabric.  Once cut it should look something like this;

Then cut out a square section in the card which measures 3 centimes (approx 1 inch) on all sides of the cross stitch chart.  You will need to use a very sharp blade or a stanley knife to cut out the square in the card.  Once cut it should look like this on the wrong side of the card, that is on the inside cover of the card.

Then glue the cut piece of cross stitch and glue it to the inside of the card.

Once the glue has dried, cut out another piece of cardboard and glue around the edges of the card.  The card will cover the tea time cross stitch design. It should look like this;

Once this is dry cut a piece of ribbon of your choice at least twice the length of the card.  Then cut a piece of white paper just slightly smaller than the card.  Fold the white piece of paper in half.  Insert into the green card and tie the ribbon around the middle.  Once tied it should look like this;

There you have it.  The card is now ready to be used.  I am planning to make many more cards.  They are so special and unique and make them a very special gift for that someone very special in your life.

Let me know if you have any comments as they are always welcome !

Enjoy your Sunday and Happy Threading !
