Christmas Tree

Today will be hot again.  The boys are playing cricket with their district clubs and it is a beautiful morning for it.

Today I offer you free Christmas charts and I will show you how to use one of the charts to create a serviette which I will use for Christmas lunch.  You could also use the christmas trees to cross stitch a hand towel as a Christmas gift or stitch the Christmas tree on 6 serviettes and give that as a Christmas gift.  It will be a nice alternative to something that is bought in the store because it would have been handmade by you !

You don’t have to follow my instructions on making the serviette as I am sure there are many readers who are experts at sewing.  This is just my way of making them and I thought I would share it with you.  If you have a better way then I would be really happy to hear from you.

Christmas Serviette

Now to make the Serviette using one of the little christmas trees from the free chart.

1. Cut a piece of linen 45 cm long x 30 cm wide.

2. Cross stitch the little tree in the middle of the linen.

3. When the cross stitch is complete, overlock or if you don’t have an overlocker use your sewing machine to zig zag the edges of the linen piece.  It should look like     the picture below.

4. Next, fold the linen fabric over twice and pin.  This will ensure a nice clean edge to the serviette which you can then sew by hand or machine.

5. Iron down the fabric so it is flat.  It is a bit challenging with linen but you can use a tiny bit of moisture from your iron to help you with that.

6. Next hand sew or machine sew around the edge.

7. Fold the serviette so the cross stitch design is in place and Voila !

8. Use serviette for Christmas lunch and enjoy !
