Saturday morning of a long weekend. We have been having quite a few long weekends here lately. There in one more in June and then nothing until the Christmas break. The time between June and Christmas without a long weekend is quite long as it is right in the middle of autumn and winter. I therefore intend to enjoy this long weekend.
This morning I have been experimenting with some chart designs. My children and I all love Apple and everything Apple makes. They make the coolest gadgets and computers on the planet. My youngest son asked whether I stitch him a cushion top with the icons from his ipod touch.
I have created a chart using the image from my iPhone. Of course the actual configuration of the icons, the designs, and the image overall belongs to Apple. I have adapted the image and converted it into a chart to stitch the cushion top. Please note this is a very challenging chart and contains many many colors. Please do not use this chart or the design for anything other than PERSONAL USE.
The icons are intended to be stitched on black Aida fabric. You could use linen also but it will be much more difficult. The chart is also intended for more advanced stitchers and contains a very large number of threads. This is a very ambitious project to undertake but I am sure once it is completed it will be fabulous ! I might try to create the design for needlepoint also as it will be quicker to stitch.
It is difficult to see the cross stitch images from the above image so I thought I would show you some of the cross stitch images which I have posted below. If you did not want to stitch the entire cushion top you could just stitch one of the icons on its own. I think I might just do that as I don’t have time to stitch the entire thing at this time in my life.
If you would like a copy of this free chart please email me at happythreadsshop@gmail.com and I will be happy to send you a copy.

This is really really cute! I recently picked up my stitching again as the result of having a crafty creative friend come stay with me for a week. Watching her play with fabric reminded me my break from sewing had been too long! I had gotten stuck on a piece that was just going too slow and lost motivation… didn’t want to start a new one until I had finished that one, so months passed! Now it’s finished and I’m on to something else more relaxing.
Hi Rose
I so understand how one can lose interest in a piece that is taking too long to stitch. That is why I love quick little projects until now. I am determined to stitch the iPhone cushion but will stitch a little at a time. Ultimately its about enjoying the journey and if one loses interest sometimes then that’s ok too. There will always be a beautiful design to stitch and once in a while the design is so inspiring there is no doubt that it will be finished ! I am glad to hear you are starting to stitch again.. that’s great !
Take care and keep stitching !

Charlie,
This is gorgeous, my grand children love their iPhones, you are so talented with your novel ideas love, I enjoy coming here as often as I can.
I have purchased your book to and it’s wonderful. I will stitch probably all the charts in the book, the iPhone might be a bit too much for me.
Thanks as usual love for your generosity.

Apparently great minds think likewise because I have been thinking about doing something similar to design a case for my iPad! Looks amazing!
[...] Great idea Don! And I would even go so far as to say this might also be a golden opportunity to get a little extra work out of Grandma too before she goes off to that great sewing sweatshop in the sky. If you’re interested, you can download a PDF of the cross-stitch pattern here. [...]
Hi geomon
