It is getting lighter earlier and staying lighter later now. It’s only a few minutes at each of the day but it is noticeable. Only one more month of winter and I can already feel spring not too far away. To celebrate I can offer you a free little daisy cross stitch chart. This might be one of the little charts that will only be free for a short period of time. Enjoy !

It’s been a very busy weekend ! I hope your weekend has been and is a good one and that you have had time to do something you enjoy.

I spent Saturday morning at the Craft and Quilt Show in my area. Most of the stalls and the exhibitions featured quilts. Although I love cross stitch I also love quilts and admire the work, artistry and effort that goes into making a beautiful quilt. So far I have not had the time but maybe when I retire.

Below is a sample of some of the beautiful quilts and quilts with applique on exhibition. I admire the ideas and imagination of the people who have produced these stunning quilts. The photos were taken on my iphone so they are not perfect but they still speak for themselves. Please also respect the copyright of these quilts designs and do not reproduce the patterns to sell them for commercial gain.

Sugar on a spoon needlepoint

I love my cat. He is funny, soft, entertaining and for such a big cat (over 10 Kg) is very very gentle and has a lovely nature. I took this photo a few months ago and he was very interested in the tulips in the garden.

Yesterday I experimented with another abstract needlepoint design. I liked the idea of sugar cubes on a spoon against a vibrant background. I know this might not appeal to everyone but it’s part of experimenting with different subjects, colors and textures.

I hope you enjoy it if you decide to stitch it.

Pattern to cross stitch

We are now well and truly in the middle of winter. Although it does not snow where I live it is still quite cold. The weekend was cold and wet and a bit dreary.

I spent most of the weekend stitching the Peony Rose Needlepoint and I will show you how I am progressing as soon as there is a day where the sun shines long enough for me to take a good picture of my progress. I hope the Irises cheer you up as they certainly make me smile. I took the photo a few weeks ago when the sun was shining through my window !

Here is today’s free chart. It is a small pattern which I thought would look good stitched as a decorative item on the cover of a note book.

Daffodils are beginning to bloom. So bright and happy and full of a spring promise still some time away.

This morning a quick little cross stitch chart for those who love to sew. It would be great stitched and used for a needle case. Might have to stitch it myself on the weekend. We’ll see I always have good intentions but there is so much to do that I never manage to finish off all those projects I have in my head.

You may have noticed some recent changes to the blog. I am still in the process of making a few changes and hope it won’t be too inconvenient for you. I am hoping the changes will be improvements. I am creating many new charts for the shop but they are taking some time to create.

In the meantime another abstract free chart. Today’s free chart is another abstract design. This time a tomato slice ! I think it would be great as a coaster.

Saturday morning and there is lots to do. I took the photo of the two bees on a recent trip to the country and thought I would include it in this morning’s post as it reminds me of spring.

This weekend I am spending time updating my blog and doing all sorts of technical things to it to make it easier for you, the reader, to find the charts you are looking for. It might take a while but I am looking forward to it.

I hope you are having a lovely weekend. For some of us this is a long weekend as the US celebrates Independence Day.

I have spent the weekend finishing off the second issue of Happy Threads Cross Stitch Charts. This issue contains 12 completely original cross stitch charts and features cats, dogs, roses, pansies, seaside sampler, cupcake sampler just to name a few. Many of the charts are designed especially for those stitchers that don’t have much time but still want to stitch something for themselves or as a gift for someone else.

The charts can be downloaded in the PDF chart from the Happy Threads Shop. You can then print one or all of the charts depending on your mood or inclination !

It’s the start of the new financial year ! Lots to look forward to and only six months to Christmas. I am so looking forward to planning for the next six months.

Only a few days to the 4th July long weekend in the US. I thought I would design something which could be stitched for the occasion. There is not much time left but this little needlepoint could be stitched very quickly and would make a good size pin cushion. I like abstract designs and thought I would create something a little more abstract but still representative of the American Flag.
