Hello!
I’m sorry its been over a week since my last blog post but I was in New York (Roseland New Jersey actually) last week for work. I’m home again now and hopefully back to the regular routine.
First, I hope you are very well and I wish you a lovely week ahead. The roses in the photo are from my new garden. They are so beautiful I just had to share them with you
In the meantime Easter is just around the corner and a new cross stitch Easter chart is being prepared to share with you later this week through the Happy Threads Store. Here is a sneak preview
I am stitching it on 32 count Belfast Linen from Zweigart. I bought the Linen in a pre cut piece from my local embroidery supplier. You could however stitch this chart on 14 count Aida as well.
More to share with you during the week.
Have a Happy Tuesday and see you soon.
Take care
Charlie

Happy Friday!
Where do you find your inspiration to create something new or to sew a new project ? There are lots of magazines and publications that will provide you with many great projects and ideas to make, sew and cross stitch beautiful images and objects.
But what about someone who inspires and creates beautiful things in a completely new, original and inspiring way ? Someone who uses cross stitch as Art ?
Renilde De Peuter’s is one of these people. Her beautiful works on her blog At Swim Two Birds are truly inspiring. Her needlework projects are amazing and unique. I came across her completely by accident while surfing the net.
She transforms and adapts the art of cross stitch to create beautiful contemporary art pieces. “Land of Rivers” is one of my favourites and the images speak for themselves.

If you have some time be sure to visit her blog to explore her other beautiful needlework, photography and Art.
In the meantime have a wonderful Friday and be sure to find your own inspiration. You never know where it might come from.
Take care
Charlie

Little green, glittering bird perched on Hydrangea. Isn’t he cute ? He arrived perched on the top of a housewarming present this morning. I just had to take his photo to share with you. Hope he brings a smile to your face.
Hoping your Saturday is beautiful and gorgeous and that you have some time to do the things you love to do.
See you next week and have a great weekend !

Happy Friday!
Over the past few weeks I have been experimenting with cross stitch and appliqué. Although I love cross stitch I thought it might be interesting to combine it in a design with some fabric and a few beads. The result is Sally. Sally is wearing a red and white dress with black cross stitch shoes. She is happy and waving hello from her garden.
The advantage of appliqué is it saves time and adds some interest to a design. Although Sally would have looked great entirely stitched in cross stitch her appliqué dress suits her too. Don’t you think ?
I stitched the dress to the Linen fabric using small crosses but you could be neater than I was and use very small even stitches for a smoother, cleaner finish.
Sally would be a great addition to a little girl’s room either as a wall hanging or on a cushion. Instructions on how to make Sally to be released later this year in a publication I am currently working on. The new Happy Threads e-book will feature plenty of new designs so stay tuned.
In the meantime have a fabulous Friday !

After unpacking another 10 boxes the past few days I thought it was time to share a brand new cross stitch chart I designed a few days ago.
Flowers in pots are a gorgeous way to cheer up any outdoor garden or patio and they are equally lovely to cross stitch. The pastel greens, blues and soft purples featured in this design work well together and create a lovely soft colour combination.
I designed this chart as a “thank you” for a dear friend who helped me move house last week. She is fabulous and often helps out without expecting anything in return. On moving day she made sure she did the coffee runs and brought over her vacuum cleaner when mine broke just as I had to clean the last section of the house !
The design is intended to be stitched on 14 count Linen but you could use Aida and features backstitch stars for added interest. If I have time over the weekend I might stitch it myself. In the meantime I hope you enjoy the free chart and have a fabulous week !
Just click on the image to download the chart.

Take care

How was your week ? What are you doing this weekend ?
We are moving house next week and I am spending the entire weekend packing. Not my favourite thing to do on a weekend but it has to be done. The last time I moved was just over 3 years ago and I managed to declutter quite a lot then but there is still some way to go to being free of clutter. There is still so much stuff to pack in boxes. They are piled high in my small lounge room. Kitchen to pack tomorrow and then we’ll be done.
I also bought these luscious red tulips on Friday and had to share them with you. They are so red and gorgeous ! Hope you enjoy them this weekend.
Do you like moving ?

In between packing boxes I am stitching a new design which is combining cross stitch with appliqué. I hope to introduce you to Smiley Sally tomorrow.
In the meantime back to the boxes. Wishing you a lovely Saturday.
Take care

Happy Wednesday ! Love this day being halfway between Monday and Friday. It means if you still have work to do by Friday you still have time but you know there are only two more days left until the weekend when in my case I can spend the entire day stitching ! Perhaps not the entire day but at least most of the day in between sport drop offs, cooking lunches and dinners and doing the laundry
For those of you who have been very very patiently waiting for me to finish stitching the Alphabet chart I am glad to say I am up to the letter Z ! I finished the letter W and thought I would share a sneak peek with you before releasing the full chart on the Happy Threads Store at the end of February.
This chart would be lovely in a child’s room or a playroom.
Wishing you a beautiful day.
Take care

Hello!
As we head into another week I thought I would share this gorgeous bunch of miniature white roses with you. They are so beautiful. I have placed them on a small table in my hall. Every time I walk through my front door they immediately cheer me up. Flowers have this lovely way of cheering up any corner of the house. Wishing you a happy and lovely week !
Still stitching the Alphabet Chart. Up to the letter Y so hoping to complete both Y and Z by the end of this week. Still deciding whether to add some small beads to a few of the letters. Will see how it looks when I have finished stitching the last letters.
Until tomorrow
Take care
Charlie

Where has January gone ? How did the time go by so quickly ? We are in February already !!!!
I hope you had a fabulous week and are having a lovely weekend.
As promised here is the free Valentines Day cross stitch chart which I designed especially for you. It is the word “Love” with a little yellow bird. Don’t you just love little birds ?
The chart is stitched on 32 count Linen with DMC cotton floss. The chart is so easy it should only take you an hour to stitch if that. You might like to frame it when you have stitched it or transform it into a Valentines Day card.

For a copy of the free chart simply email me at happythreadsshop@gmail.com and I will be happy to send it to you.
Enjoy and have a wonderful weekend. See you next week !
Take care
